Pay now, Play later: Expectations vs Reality

Pay now, Play later: Expectations vs Reality

Pay now, Play later: Expectations vs Reality;
There's a war going on inside, outside, on social media, in front of our very own eyes and between some of our best friends. That war between what people are saying, doing and the actions they either are or are not taking, and to be honest, I've found myself experiencing the same battle too. I'd be foolish to say that I haven't.
Way too many people are asking themselves, where am I going to have dinner tonight and what am I going to drink? Which club are we going to? And which games are we going to play at the casino tonight. The inability to delay short term gratification is slowly but surely hurting our society... Is dance a sport?

Is dance a sport?

An unfortunate reality that comes along with sports is the possibility of injury. Almost every sport out there has the potential for it's participants to get hurt and dancing is no different
Dancing is a bit of a unique sport because there is less chance that others will hurt you and it's more likely that you'll hurt yourself while dancing. There is constant pressure to always up the ante and practice more often in the dance community, Hence it is hardly a surprise that Dancers often get injured.. click the links and listen to the full episode on Oj's world podcast

In a healthy competition, winning as an athlete is not as important as performing to your potential. Instead, athletes should be encouraged to focus on the process of their performance and doing their best.
Coaches who over-stress the importance of winning actually set their players to fail. If you look at the word "compete" in the dictionary, you will discover that it means to strive and seek together

Are beauty pageants a way of objectifying women

For time in memorial, beauty pageants have been extremely popular over the years. Participation insuch contest has increased with women coming from different walks of life. Competitions like Miss World, Miss Universe and others provide numerous opportunities
Beauty pageants were created for the purpose of displaying the intelligence and other talents that a woman possesses but these days, the main focus of the audience is mainly on the physical beauty of a woman rather than the inner beauty. Girls tend to go on very harsh and strict diet in other to lose excess weight and eventually these girls develop various types of eating disorder and neglect their health. Many pageants participants engage in behaviours focused on changing themselves to become perfect

Physical punishment can make or mar a child

Physical punishment can make or mar a child

A research carried out by Elizabeth Gershoff an expert on the effect of corporal punishment finds that hitting children does not teach them about responsibility, and self control. Hitting children does not teach them right from wrong, spanking gets their attention but have not internalized why they should do the right thing in the future, they may behave when the adult is there but do whatever they at other times.
In addition, children learn from watching their parents. Parents who use physical discipline may be teaching their child to resolve conflicts with physical aggression. Spanking a child can elevate a child aggression level as well as diminish the quality of parent child relationship. Physical discipline can escalate into abuse. children do not need pain to learn, we don’t allow aggression among adults. It’s a sad double standard that we don’t give children the same protection against violence

Is money the major motivating factor in the work place

Is money the major motivating factor in the work place

Money definitely plays a major part in motivating people, as far as motivation factor is concern..that too in the work place. It is only the need for money that makes people work. If there is plenty and more than sufficient, anyone would hardly want to work. A guy was asked if he would do a job for free and this was his response….”Who would do a job for free? What idiot provides time and labour for free..joke of the freaking century”
Hello listeners, it’s nice we are back here together again. What we will be discussing today is this; Is money the major motivating factor in the work place, this time I will be sharing people’s opinion on this topic. Some people believe money is the only motivating factor in the work place while others believe it’s not..

Are children from broken homes disadvantaged?

Are children from broken homes disadvantaged?

Growing up in a broken home can be a difficult experience to go through in life said Micheal, especially if you are forced to at a young age...Those that have grown up in a broken home understand the difficulties and everyday challenges that they have faced in the past..slowed axademic development is a common way that seperation of parents affects children. The emotional stress of a divorce alone can be enough to stunt your child's academic progress but the lifestyle changes and instability of a broken family can contribute to poor educational outcomes

Is parental supervision the same as parental control?

Is parental supervision the same as parental control?

Adolescence is characterised by the passage from childhood to adulthood. At this stage, it is totally normal and common for children to want to have new experiences outside the family environment. They want to build their own identity. They want to join a group, they want to socialize and its totally natural for them to leave their homes to see this new world that lies ahead of them. But it is important that parents can understand that although they are well grown, they are still developing the part of the brain that is responsible for decision-making called the pre-frontal cortex. But is parental supervision the same as parental control?

Hard work and talent:which is more important

Hard work and talent:which is more important

There's is this saying"hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard". This is one of the most profound statements ever made.let me give you practical examples to further explain this..look at the life of Bruno Mars. Bruno Mars was initially told that he sucked at being a musician before he started writing songs for other artists and then kicked off his impressive career. As a child ,Shakira was ridiculed for her style of singing by her teachers and classmates...even the Beatles were told they did not have the necessary talent to make a dent in the music industry. If not for the willingness to commit to making their talent better..maybe we wouldn't have known their names. Listen to this episode to get the full take on this topic
